Robert L. Horky

Robert L. Horky, a local business owner and resident of Hingham, MA, died unexpectedly on December 18, 2023 at the age of 89. 

Bob is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years Rosemary (Ames) Horky; his loving children, Laura Horky of Hingham, MA; Lucinda Fithian-Horky of Port Orange, FL; and Theresa L. Horky of Norfolk, MA; a grandson Daland Fithian of Sarasota FL; and his sister Alice Warnholz of Springfield, SD. He is predeceased by his brothers Edmund and Clifford of AZ and Joseph of Sargent, NE. Also, his sister Lorene Morse of Sargent, NE. 

Robert was born in Sargent, NE on August 1, 1934 to Joseph F. Horky and Anna E. Horky (Bartunek).  He grew up working on the family farm.  After graduating in 1952 from Sargent High School he relocated to Quincy, MA to work with his brother Edmund in the Automobile business. He then served in the Army for four years. After returning to Quincy he ran his own service station on Hancock St. where he was well known and cared for his customers.  After over twenty years in Quincy he relocated his auto business to the King St. Industrial Park, Forge Pond Auto-body.  In 1990, he started a bait and tackle shop, where he continued to worked daily to provide for his family.

Bob was a hard working family man who loved his many family gatherings. He also enjoyed music, singing, reading, gardening, beekeeping, nature, horseback riding, camping, fishing and Sudoko puzzles. He texted his family daily to let them know how much he loved them. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-7 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM,  a funeral service will begin at 6:30 PM. 

The family requests that donations be made to St. Jude or Shriners in lieu of flowers.
