Robert L. Devin of Weymouth passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 16, 2023. He was 81.
Bob was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts in 1942. He was proud of his “Triple Eagle” status, having attended Boston College High School, Boston College and Boston College Law School. In 1967, it was at a Boston College football game that Bob met his future wife, Maura. Not one to waste time, Bob proposed and they were married in 1968.
After graduating from law school, Bob worked for the Boston Redevelopment Authority and as an Assistant District Attorney in Plymouth County. Bob then went into private practice on the South Shore, beginning in 1977 and continuing for over 45 years. He was well known before the various town boards as he represented many developers in obtaining approvals for their projects.
Bob was a huge sports fan, particularly loving the Red Sox, the Bruins, the Boston College sports teams and most recently Gamecocks Women’s Soccer. He was an avid reader and loved history. If you wanted to talk anything sports or history, Bob was your guy.
Bob enjoyed raising his family in Hingham with Maura and spending his summers puttering in the yard of their house on New Silver Beach. He was a Girl Dad, before being a Girl Dad was cool- he never missed a sporting event, performance or opportunity to cheer his daughters on in any activity. His favorite job was that of Grampa and he cherished any opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren.
In 2004, Bob and Maura moved to Weathervane, where he was a member at the Golf Course and enjoyed many rounds of golf.
