Reverend Robert J. Ripley

Ripley, Reverend Robert J. “Rip” of Braintree, died April 9, 2014.

Beloved husband of 56 years of Connie J. (Nyberg) Ripley of Braintree. Son of the late Issac T. and Esther L. (James) Ripley.  Loving father of Sandy J. Vogel and her husband Bob of Whitman, Eric J. Ripley and his wife Brenda of Weymouth, Donna J. Fallon and her husband Scott of Weymouth, Gretchen J. Sugrue and her late husband John of Weymouth and Rev. Peter Jon Ripley and his husband Mark Denecour of Brooklyn, NY. Cherished “Bup Bup”of Heather, Amanda and Greg Vogel, Kyle and Valerie Ripley, Derek and Connor Fallon, and Johnny and David Sugrue. 

Rev. Ripley was ordained into ministry in 1954 at the East Congregational Church in Milton. In 1965, he became the Pastor of the First Congregational Church in Braintree and retired after over 40 years of service.  He was a member of the Braintree Rotary Club, the town’s youth commission, the Braintree Alliance Against Drugs as well as the Braintree Clergy Association.He was the Founder and Director of the South Shore Congregational Youth Conference. Rip loved history and mentoring the youth. He created something that so many people held so dearly, “CAMP”. This will be his legacy a “Vacation With A Purpose”.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Rip’s life Monday, April 14th at 10AM in First Congregational Church, 12 Elm Street, Braintree, MA 02184.  Burial will be private.
