Robert J. Murphy

Murphy, Robert J. “Bob” of Weymouth, died March 31, 2019.

Bob proudly served in the US Army and went on to have a successful career as an attorney for the U.S. Government in Boston and Colorado. He was proud to have graduated from both Boston College and Suffolk Law School. He was an avid New England sports fan, especially the Bruins and Red Sox but was still loyal to Avalanche hockey which he enjoyed while living in Colorado. Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus, enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. In his 70’s, Bob participated in the Camino De Santiago Walk which had been a long time aspiration. During the planning for his 50th Cathedral High School (Boston) reunion, Bob and his classmate Marie reconnected which sparked a beautiful marriage for the last 15 years.

Beloved husband of Marie L. (Morley) Murphy of Weymouth. Devoted father of Susan Kelley and her husband John of Westboro, Paul Murphy and his wife Jane of New York City, Alice Courtney and her husband Dan of Franklin, Ryan Murphy of CO and Brendan Murphy of CO. Loving brother of the late Francis “Buddy” Murphy and William “Billy” Murphy. Cherished Grandpa of Shannon, Jack, Johnny, Kathryn, Grace, Margaret, Catie, Patrick and Emily.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Watertown.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 1203 Commercial Street, Weymouth MA 02189 or Glastonbury Abbey, 16 Hull Street, Hingham, MA 02043, or to the charity of your choice.
