Robert J. Fitzgerald

Mr.  Robert J. Fitzgerald, of Weymouth, died April 27, 2016.

Born in Boston, Robert had lived in Quincy for many years. He was a veteran serving in the Marines, Navy and Air Force, and retired from the Air National Guard in 1994 as a Brigadier General. Robert always enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and was also an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed gardening and football. He will be dearly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.  He was a Captain for the Massachusetts State Police from 1956-1976.

Beloved husband of the late Joan M. (Gilbody) Fitzgerald. Loving father of Maureen Fitzgerald of Weymouth, Anne Gage of Plymouth, Joan Holmes of Plymouth, Robert Fitzgerald, Jr. of Tewksbury, Patricia O’Neal and her husband, Rob, of Indiana, Joseph E. Fitzgerald, and his wife, Jill, of ,Cohasset and Kathleen Geary of Pembroke. Also survived by 23 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and  many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).  Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9 AM on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth at 10 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
