Burns, Robert J., Sr. of Quincy formerly of Dorchester, October 23, 2003. Beloved husband of the late Dorothea (Doyle). Father of Robert J. Burns, Jr. and his wife Virginia of Brockton. Brother of the late Francis X. Burns. Grandfather of James E. Burns of Brockton. Great grandfather of Shianne and James R. Burns of Brockton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home 785 Hancock St. , WOLLASTON Monday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Visiting hours Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Robert was a member of the McKeon Post and the VFW Post in Boston. He belonged to the 102nd Infantry Division Association. He also belonged to the Quarter Century Club at the Boston Globe. Bob was an avid Red Sox fan and also enjoyed Big Band music and dancing. He took frequent walks at both Wollaston Beach and Castle Island in South Boston. When his son was young Bob was very involved in youth baseball, Cub Scouts and other activities.
