Bowes, Robert J., Jr., ret. BPD, of Quincy, passed away November 22, 2012. Loving father of Robert W. Bowes and his wife Elise of Weymouth, Kevin M. Bowes and his wife Laura of Canton, Brendan T. Bowes and his wife Lauren of Canton, and Sean P. Bowes of Wollaston. Former husband of Maureen (Cox) Bowes. Brother of Nancy Bowes of NH, Janice MacPherson, Marybeth Bowes, Lisa Bowes; all of Quincy, and the late Thomas Bowes. Cherished grandfather of R.J., Thomas, and soon to be born Luke Bowes. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Robert Bowes grew up in Dorchester and was proud to be a 3rd generation Boston Police Officer. He loved the job and took any additional work he could to help support his family. His favorite was working the police detail at Fenway Park during the Red Sox games, something he did for many years. He was most proud of the accomplishments of his four sons. He enjoyed reading, history, music and walks along Wollaston Beach. A member of the Boston Police Detective’s Benevolent Society, Robert was honored to serve the City of Boston for so many years. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his charm and his love of storytelling. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Cremation will follow. Donations in memory of Robert may be made to American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
