Hennessy, Robert J. “Bob” of Quincy, died August 24, 2009. Beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Kelly) Hennessy. Devoted father of Robert W. of Quincy, Richard of LA, Ronald of Braintree, James of Weymouth and Joseph of Quincy. Cherished Papa of 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Loving brother of Jeanne Conso of Quincy, Gerald Hennessy of NH, Francis Hennessy of Hanson, Joseph Hennessy of Mashpee, Edward Hennessy of Quincy, Maurice Hennessy of FL, Ann Hennessy of FL, Carol Spaulding of FL, Mary Gaspard of Mashpee, Elizabeth Matherne of OH, Janet Gubbins of Manomet and the late William and Jay Hennessy. Also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews. Robert was born in Boston and lived in Dorchester until moving to Quincy 40 years ago. He graduated from Dorchester High School and then proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant during the Korean Conflict, where he was a Purple Heart Recipient. Mr. Hennessy worked as a letter carrier for the U.S Postal Service for 40 years retiring in 1992. He also worked as a commercial artist for various companies. He was a member of the McKeon Post. Being an avid sports fan, Bob was a football coach for Mission High School, Christopher Columbus High School, Boston College High School, Don Bosco High School and Brookline High School. He also coached the St. Peter’s baseball team to the State Championship. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Sunday from 3 PM – 7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish, Our Lady of Good Counsel Church at 10:00 AM. Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:45PM. Donations in memory of Bob may be made to John Adams Nursing Home, 211 Franklin Street, Quincy, MA 02169.
