Robert B. Henderson of Middleborough, formerly of Quincy, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, at the age of 86.
Robert spent his early years in Quincy. He was a proud member of the Quincy Elks and Quincy American Legion Post. Robert's professional life was equally commendable; he worked at the Quincy Shipyard and Howard Johnsons in Brockton dedicating over 30 years as a truck driver for Teamsters Local 653. His work ethic and reliability made him a respected figure among his colleagues and peers.
In his personal life, Robert was a devoted husband to Christina Henderson for 22 years and the late Alice Henderson. Together, Christina and Robert shared a life filled with love and mutual respect. He was a loving father to Kenneth S. Henderson of Plymouth, Helene O'Hearn of East Wareham, and the late Michael T. Henderson. As a stepfather, he showed the same warmth and guidance to John Morrison of Hingham, Eileen Newman of Braintree, and the late Daniel Morrison. Robert was also a dear brother to the late Kenneth and Ronald Henderson.
The joy of Robert's life was further multiplied by his nine grandchildren: Alex, Paige, Collin, Gillian, Danielle, James, Abby, Ava, and Lainey. Each of them brought a unique light to his eyes, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Robert's interests were as varied as they were passionate. An avid sports fan, he never missed a chance to cheer on his beloved Boston teams. Golfing was not just a hobby but a way to connect with friends and nature, and he could often be found on the greens, perfecting his swing. His love for ballroom dancing showcased his grace on the dance floors.
Camping at Horseneck Beach and enjoying going to the Loon Mountain Highland games were among Robert's favorite retreats. His love for Scottish music and heritage was a thread that ran deep, often filling his home with the sounds of bagpipes and traditional melodies.
