Robert Harry Newson

Robert Harry Newson was a Treasure to his family and this world. He loved his family and pets with conviction.  He was always there with “I love you!” and a giant hug. Answering to Bumpa, Robbie, “Doc” Newson, the names he responded to went on and on.  He was unique to everyone, especially with his legendary laugh and voice.  He was always genuine.

He loved life and went at it with reckless abandon.  The list of his accomplishments is long and varied, to name but a few: A Green Beret, BU Medical school graduate, ER doctor, mountain climber, tri athlete, COBOL programmer, scuba diver, entrepreneur, author, antique enthusiast, and retailer. He started a program to help homeless veterans accomplishing this by starting a food service program at fairs and festivals where veterans learned how to start a business, food service, and most importantly build their self worth.  His compassion was limitless.

We will miss him every day but while remembering he lived.  This world is a sadder place without him, but the next world is a better place for it.

Beloved longtime companion of Marcia Robitaille of Weymouth and her children: Jessica Sparks and her husband Gary of Weymouth; Stephen Lang and his wife Megan of Whitman; and Faith Andreasen of Whitman. Proud “Bumpa” of Jesse Knight, Ashten Knight, Lilly May Lang, Ella Marie Lang, and Christopher Rude. Also survived by many extended family members.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Saturday 1/14/23 from 9-11 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square) followed by a celebration of life service at 11 AM.
