Robert H. Rogg, 83 of Wollaston and New Silver Beach, No Falmouth, MA, passed away January 4, 2007, after a brief illness. Robert was born in New York City the son of Herman and Mary (Arn) Rogg of Switzerland. He grew up in New York and sang soprano in the NY All Boys Choir and spent summer in the Catskill Mountains. His parents had died by his teen years and he left high school to join the US Navy where he served aboard PT boats as a First Class Torpedo man during World War II serving all over the South Pacific and the Philippines. On leave in Boston, he met Teresa M. Sheehan and a wonderful romance began; Robert went back to sea and promised to return. Upon return from duty, he went to Boston and searched for a job so that he and Teresa Sheehan could marry. Robert and Teresa were married on June 17, 1947 at St. Ambrose, Church and lived in Dorchester until they moved to Wollaston in 1949. Robert was employed and also served in the US Naval Reserve. Mr. Rogg returned to school and earned his GED then attended Northeastern University night school earning an Associates degree in Engineering and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. Mr. Rogg worked at General Electric in Lynn, where he was involved with the production of jet engines and retired after 33 years. He also served in the Army Reserve and was part of the Quartermaster Corps of the 373rd General Hospital Division and attained the rank of CW4; Mr. Rogg served his country with 43 years of combined service, and he was a Member of the Reserve Officers Association of America. Robert and Teresa bought a piece of land in New Silver Beach, North Falmouth, where he built his “Tar Paper Shack”. He enjoyed puttering around his Cape house and Mr. Rogg was always available to lend a hand for any type of handy job. Whether offering advice, swinging a hammer or turning a wrench, he was a very loving and caring father. He also cared for his children’s friends, sometimes as if they were also part of his family. When his grandchildren arrived, Mr. Rogg became “BUBBA” and even his grandchildren’s friends would call him their “ BUB” as well. He would give you the shirt off his back and button it on you if you needed it, Robert will be missed by anyone that his life has touched. Mr. Rogg was a Cub Scout Cub Master, a member of North Quincy Knights of Columbus, Member of St. Ann’s Parish in Wollaston, Member of St Ann’s School Building Committee, Men’s Bowling league and an Usher. Mr. Rogg was also a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in N. Falmouth where he was an Usher and member of the Men’s Club. Mr. Rogg is survived by his wife of 59 years, Teresa M. (Sheehan), The father of 3 daughters, Teresa M. Rogg of Quincy, Elizabeth A. Burrell of Quincy, Dorothy A. Lewis, her husband Wayne G. Lewis of South Weymouth, 2 sons, William J. Rogg, his wife Karen (Gregor) of Rockland and Robert J. Rogg of Eatontown, NJ, deceased, his wife Kathleen (Salenius). Mr. Rogg had 6 grandsons, Robert J. Rogg, Jr. of Long Branch, NJ, his wife Nicole (Dunn), Jeffrey A. Burrell, Jr. his wife Stephanie (Wiltshire) of Randolph, Lieutenant Wayne G. Lewis, Jr. his wife Marcella (Boyle) of Oak Harbor, WA Christopher N. and David A. Lewis of South Weymouth.3 granddaughters, Jennifer L. Rogg of Eatontown, NJ, Katie Ann Lewis of South Weymouth and Jillian Rogg of Rockland He is also the great grandfather of Brianna E. Burrell, Cameron R. Rogg, and Jacob R. Lewis. Robert was the brother of Helene Patterson, deceased, also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Monday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, Wollaston at 10 AM. Visiting hours Sunday 3-7 PM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
