Robert G. Brinkmann

Brinkmann, Robert G. “Bob” “Brink” of Weymouth, passed away at home, surrounded by his loving family on December 17, 2022.  He fought cancer the same way he lived for 59 years, with courage, good humor, and Elvis music in his heart.

Bob was born in Boston and lived in Dorchester until the age of 6, when his family moved to Weymouth.  He was a member of the Weymouth South High School graduating class 1981.  Bob then attended Massasoit College and Eastern Nazarene College. Bob served as Deputy Assessor for the Town of Braintree for the past ten years. Prior to that, he served as Assessor in Hanover and Norwell.

Bob was an avid Boston sports fan, but his favorite sport was baseball. Bob played baseball for the Boston Mets right up until he became ill. In 2003, Bob helped his good friend (JJJ) organize the event of a lifetime for a Red Sox fan. They arranged for their families and friends to play an unforgettable game of baseball at historic Fenway Park in custom Red Sox uniforms.

Bob was known for his witty and sarcastic sense of humor.  He enjoyed hitting the pub or the golf course with the lifelong friends he had made in elementary school. Bob loved his family and the annual vacation they took to Newport, RI. His family and friends will tell you that no one ever took more joy in their successes or was more supportive through their tough times than Bob. It’s impossible to measure the number of selfless acts Bob made for others, all while asking for nothing in return. Bob valued his friends and family above all else. It was obvious to everyone in his life –  his family were his friends, and his friends were family.

Son of the late Francis and Patricia (Graham) Brinkmann. Beloved husband of Lauren P. (Murphy) Brinkmann. Devoted and loving father of Alicia P. Doherty and her husband, Dennis of Weymouth. Brother of Cheryl Brinkmann of Quincy, Frank Brinkmann and his wife, Darlene, of Pembroke, Dianne Brinkmann of Quincy, Paul Brinkmann and his wife, Marie, of Weymouth, and Karen Gurry and her husband, Lee, of Weymouth. Nephew of Marilyn Moran of Florida and also survived by many nieces, nephews, and his favorite dog, Jackson.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, December 27th, from 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Wednesday, December 28th, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM.
