Robert Francis Galluzzo

Robert Francis Galluzzo, formerly of Hingham, Hull and Weymouth, son of the late Dominic and Mary Galluzzo of Hinghham, died in West Palm Beach, Florida on January 2. He leaves behind his wife, Marybeth (Costa) Galluzzo of Port St. Lucie, Florida; three loving children, John and his wife Michelle (Degni) Galluzzo, of Weymouth; Julie Galluzzo of Hull; and Nicholas and his wife Kerri (Green) Galluzzo, of Hanson and their mother Marylou Galluzzo of Hull and three grandchildren, Ava, Anthony and Caroline; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was the brother of Dominic Galluzzo of Weymouth; Carmella Wentworth of Laguna Hills, California; Joseph Galluzzo of Concord; Mary Ann Bryan of Weymouth; John F. Galluzzo of Hanover and the late Victoria Fay of Braintree. Born in Hingham, and a graduate of Boston College High School, he joined the United States Marine Corps in 1966, serving as a lance corporal with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Division and receiving a Purple Heart for wounds received in combat during the Vietnam War. The longtime owner of Hingham Landscape Services, he beautified small pieces of the South Shore of Boston in countless ways. He excelled as a youth hockey coach, passing on his knowledge of the sport to athletes ranging from local adolescents to Hull High School students to the Massachusetts skaters who would go on to win the 1980 Olympic Gold Medal. Retirement sent him to Florida to work part-time, golf and enjoy the warm weather he so loved on a year-round basis. Viewing hours will be Thursday, January 19, 4-8 p.m. at Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, January 20 at St. Paul’s, Hingham.
