Robert F. Giovannucci, Sr.

Robert Francis Giovannucci Sr., age 88, formerly of Hingham, died peacefully, Thursday, March 19, 2015 at his home in Hollywood, FL.

 

He was born in Hingham, was a graduate of Hingham High School, and a proud graduate of the Boston University School of Management. He spent his professional career as an employee of AT&T, retiring in 1983, and was a life-long supporter of the Telephone Pioneers of America.  Bob was an avid reader.

 

Bob was a proud war veteran, leaving high school after his sophomore year to support the US war effort in WWII.  He served in the Pacific Theatre aboard the US Navy submarine USS Cabezon.  After returning from the war he graduated as a member of the Hingham High School class of 1947 and attended Union College in Schenectady, NY.  He was called back to active duty for the Korean War and again served in the Navy, this time aboard the USS Sabalo.

 

Beloved husband for 41 years of Carol (Noons) Giovannucci of Hollywood, FL, he is also survived by his loving sister Beverly Fuerstenberger of Decatur, GA.  Devoted father to Daviann Giovannucci and her husband Everett Hurd of Brockton, Robin Gubbins and her husband Jack of Pembroke, Robert Giovannucci, Jr. and his wife Karen of Needham, Francesca Sadler and her husband John of Hingham, Anthony Giovannucci and his wife Linda of Scituate, William Giovannucci and his wife Alyson of Aventura, FL.  Cherished grandfather of Adam Culley, Amy Mulholland, Robert III, Katelyn and Daniel Giovannucci, Jennifer, Elizabeth and Christopher Sadler, Caroline, Emma and Lillian Giovannucci, and Nathaniel and Matthew Giovannucci. Great grandfather of Kailee Aldoupolis, Hannah Culley, and Sophie and Marco Rodriguez-Mulholland. He was also the grandfather of the late Alexander Culley and uncle to many nieces and nephews. 

 

Funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home 21 Emerald Street Hingham, MA.  Visiting hours are 4-8PM on Wednesday March 25, 2015.  Funeral Mass in Saint Paul Hingham, MA at 10 o’clock AM on Thursday March 26, 2015.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service Trust at cst.dav.org
