Robert E. Hayden, Jr.

Robert E. Hayden, Jr. of Hingham, formerly of Dorchester, died February 25, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bob was a retired Deputy Superintendent for Boston Police, retired Chief of Police for the City of Lawrence and former Chief of Police for the City of Brockton. He proudly assisted with the recovery efforts of 9/11. As a man of extreme athleticism, Bob was a 4 time marathon runner and long distance biker, including biking in Ireland, Boston to Montreal and the coast of California. His agility and adaptation were recognized in 2001 when Bob appeared on the reality TV series Lost, in Bolivia. Bob will be remembered for his strength of character and devotion to his family. He will be dearly missed.  

Beloved husband of 50 years to the late Kathleen “Katy” (Desmond) Hayden. Devoted father of Eileen Murphy and her husband Richard of Hanover, Robert Hayden, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Duxbury, Kathy Smith and her husband Greg of Duxbury and Kevin Hayden and his wife Jennifer of Easton. Cherished Papa of Kailey, Hannah, Jackie, Ryan, Tori, Hayden, Alex, Thomas and Lydia. Loving brother of Mary Morrissey of Salem. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

Funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Thursday at 11 AM.

Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Boston.
