Fratus, Robert E. ”Bob” of Quincy died suddenly November 3, 2013 in his home.  He was 83.

Mr. Fratus was born and raised in Somerville and attended St. John’s in Somerville and Northeastern University.   After graduating he enlisted in the US Coast Guard Reserves and was stationed in Boston.  Upon discharge, he settled in Randolph where he raised his family.

He was well-known in the HVAC industry with his career spanning over 50 years and he worked until he was 83.  He was co-founder of Air Purchases, Inc. and later went on serve as sales manager for several area companies including Brockton Furnace & Duct and Cotti Johnson to name a few.  Bob was a well-respected teacher and mentor and was commonly referred to as Mr. HVAC in the industry due to his vast knowledge of the field.  He enjoyed planning and hosting yearly sales incentive trips to Mexico and the Caribbean islands for his customers and enjoyed many close friendships.  

He enjoyed traveling and visited several countries in Europe.  He would also take yearly vacations to Long Boat Key, FL during the winter and spent many summers at his vacation home in Gilford, NH and later in Hyannisport, MA.  Bob enjoyed skiing with his family and participating in summer golfing events and especially enjoyed his annual summer cookout at his Cape Cod vacation home. 

Bob is survived by his wife of 29 years to Kathleen G. Fratus, of Quincy.  Father of Gary R. Fratus and his wife, Jean of Holbrook, Lynn Sharek of Wareham, and the late John C. Fratus.  He is also the step-father of  Kathleen E. Martell and her husband David of E. Bridgewater, Laura Carbonneau and her husband Steven of Wareham and the late Lawrence S. Williamson.  Bob was a loving grandfather to 19 grandchildren and great grandchildren, and uncle to several nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 5-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. Funeral services will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM in Keohane Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
