Brownell, Robert E. “Bob” of Weymouth, formerly of Quincy, died April 26, 2014.

Bob proudly served in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division Paratroopers, retiring as a Master Sergeant. His career serving our country included two tours in the Korean Conflict and two tours in the Vietnam War, resulting in Bob receiving a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Bob was a skilled boxer in his early years and a champion on base. His life of service also included working with the Quincy Sheriff’s Department as a deputy. Bob retired to Florida with his wife where he was blessed with many friends. He enjoyed traveling, driving and had a special place in his heart for animals, especially dogs. He will be sadly missed.

Beloved husband of 43 years to Barbara A. (Figueiredo) Brownell of Weymouth. Devoted father of Douglas A. McDonald and his wife Nancy of Hull, Sharon L. Adkins and her husband Gary of CA, Carlene E. Brown and her husband Peter of Weymouth and Rebecca Pancoast and her husband Teddy of SC. Affectionately the “Best Papa” to 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Loving brother of The Honorable Thomas F. Brownell and his wife Margaret of Quincy and the late Barbara C. Hallsen and her husband Bill of Weymouth. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.  

A private service for the family will be taking place this week. Friends are welcome to make online condolences in Bob’s honor.
