Robert E. “Bob”, Dillon Jr. of Hingham, died peacefully on Saturday, March 19, 2022. He was 70.
Bob was born in Quincy and raised in Hingham. He attended St. Paul school, and graduated from Hingham High School, class of 1969.
After high school, Bob moved to Aspen, Colorado. He spent his young adult years living in the Rocky Mountains.
Bob’s career and passion was in carpentry and woodworking. He specialized as a finish carpenter and loved to work with his hands. Bob also had a love for music and enjoyed playing the guitar and piano. Bob was a cycling enthusiast. He often would go on long bike rides along the scenic ocean roads of the south shore.
Family was the most important part of Bob’s life. He loved spending time with his nieces, nephews, and their families. Bob was a kind person and a gentle soul. He was quiet, had a big heart, and he was always present and willing to help those in need. Bob will be greatly missed by all the lives he touched.
Bob was a cherished son of Mary T. (Conville) Dillon of Hingham and the late Robert E. Dillon, Sr., who died in 2004. He was the beloved brother of Peggy Jones and her husband Mark of Florida, Nancy Stauff and her husband Ray of Scituate, Mary Lou Tanner and her husband Michael of Framingham, Jim Dillon of Framingham, Karen Lincoln and her husband Jeff of Scituate, Matt Dillon and his wife Paula of Hingham, Maureen McNulty and her husband Tom of Scituate, Kevin Dillon and his late wife Lisa of Hingham, Betsy Sullivan and her husband Larry of Hingham, Michael Dillon and his wife Carol of New Hampshire, Amy Lagomarsino and her husband Jeremy of Illinois, Paul Dillon and his late wife Khing of Winthrop, and Joe Dillon of Weymouth. Bob is also survived by many cousins, loving nieces and nephews, and their families.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul Church, Hingham at 10 AM.
Services will conclude with interment in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Bob’s name to The Jimmy Fund c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
