Robert E. Batts, Jr. of Weymouth, died April 27, 2013 after a brief illness. He was 64.
Raised in Hingham, Bob lived in Hull for many years before moving to Weymouth 23 years ago. As a young man he served in the US Military and later served the community as a Hull Police Officer for 12 years. In his adult life, Bob became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a faithful member of the Rockland Congregation. He thoroughly enjoyed walks in the woods, driving his jeep on the beach and spotting hawks flying high in the sky. He was very resourceful, always on the alert to protecting and helping his family, friends, neighbors and anyone else who might need it. His foremost love was spending time with his family, and he will be remembered as a kind and witty man who never failed to make you smile with his one-liners. He will be sorely missed.
Bob was the loving husband of 21 years to Ginger Batts of Weymouth. He was also a devoted father to his two daughters, Kerri Greco of NY and Elise Leite of Nantucket, and to his two stepchildren, Joel Webber of Middleborough and Lindsey Sawyer of Natick. Their respective spouses, Tom Greco, Bobby Leite, Bernadette Webber and Michael Sawyer, as well as his sisters, Kathleen Knorr of Hingham, Mary Batts of Hingham and his brothers, Mark Batts of Hingham and Shawn Batts of Weymouth, also survive him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday, May 3rd between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles and Middle Street). A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 4th at 3:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 116 Wareham Street, Middleborough, MA 02346.
