Robert B. "Bob" Dunphy Sr.

Robert B. “Bob” Dunphy, of South Yarmouth, formerly of Hingham, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Southwood in Norwell. He was 76.

Bob was the beloved husband of 50 years to the late Carol Ann (Marchitelli) Dunphy, who died in 2020; devoted father to his son Robert Dunphy, Jr. of Hyannis and daughter Keri Fabrizio and husband Anthony of Hingham; cherished “Papa” to Abby Dunphy and Anthony, Taylor and Kaylie Fabrizio. He was the dear brother of Ruthann Galardi of Swampscott, and the late George Dunphy of Abington. Bob was born in Dorchester on September 14, 1948, to the late George and Ruth (Connolly) Dunphy. Bob was raised in Quincy, attended Boston College High School, and continued his education at Northeastern University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business. He married his wife Carol at the Neighborhood Club in Quincy in 1970 and spent the first thirteen years residing in Hanover before moving to Hingham and then settling on the Bass River in South Yarmouth.

Bob was the founder and owner of Dublin Construction, Inc. of Harwich, MA, a family-owned residential custom home building business. Bob retired in 2020 after many years of designing and building homes in the Mid Cape area. Bob was known for being hardworking and driven and taught his family the meaning of working hard and not giving up when life throws you curve balls.

Bob cherished his family and the time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family of nieces and nephews and their children. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Boston Red Sox. He looked forward to the summers where he enjoyed boating on the Bass River, spending time at the beach, watching the Hingham 4th of July Parade with his grandchildren, and taking long walks with his wife. He was always the life of the party at social gatherings, had a great sense of humor, and loved being surrounded by family and friends. He will be missed by all the lives he touched.
