Dr. Robert C. Lincoln DMD, 96, of Hingham, passed away peacefully at home after a brief illness surrounded by several loving family members.

Born on April 5, 1927, he was the devoted son of the late Robert W. Lincoln and Marian (Carling) Lincoln. Bob married his high school sweetheart the late Catherine T. Brennan of Bayonne, New Jersey.  Bob was preceded in death by his wife Kitty and son Bobby and his sister Patricia. Leaving behind his loving children Richard, Tom, Patricia, Mark, Susan, Marian, and Michael and cherished sisters Mary Ellen Connolly and Margie Rose Blaha. Bob was also the cherished grandfather of 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren while leaving behind many loving nieces and nephews.

Bob was born and raised in Bayonne, New Jersey, where he graduated from Bayonne High. He enlisted into the Navy to fight in WWII assigned to the USS Alabama, in the South Pacific.  Returning in 1946, Bob graduated from Columbia University in 3 years where he matriculated to Harvard Medical School. After graduating Harvard Dental School, he worked as a surgeon at the Mass General Hospital for over 40 years, while teaching at Harvard Medical School. Bob was published in the JAMA for innovation in oral surgery. As an accomplished surgeon, he worked on many notables from Mohammed Ali to John Wayne.

Bob kept busy throughout his years as term President of Aesculapian Club (Harvard Medical School), recruiter and interviewer for Columbia University, along with being a team surgeon for the Boston Bruins, Patriots and Whalers.

While living in Hingham since 1957, beside his passion for golf, he enjoyed following the journeys of his grandchildren’s academic and athletic careers.

Bob will be fondly remembered by his colleagues at Columbia University as a lifelong loyal supporter. A football star in his own right, he starred on the renowned “47” team that upset Army after its 32-game win streak. He will also be missed by his lifelong friendships with the Mission Hill gang.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday, May 17, from  4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, May 18 , at 10:30 AM . Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
