Robert Allen Keyworth III, age 59 died unexpectedly in North Weymouth, MA on Saturday, February 13, 2021. Robert was born on June 22, 1961 in Providence, RI to Gretchen Grohe Keyworth and the late Robert Allen Keyworth, Jr. and grew up in Gardner, MA.
Robert leaves his partner of 30 years, Balbina Fernandes and their beloved daughter Isabel Elida Keyworth both of North Weymouth, MA. He also leaves his mother Gretchen Grohe Keyworth of Boston, MA and his sister Kimberly Carlton Keyworth of El Cerrito, CA. His brother Geoffrey Arthur Keyworth of Gardner, MA pre-deceased him in 1984.
Robert graduated from Syracuse University with a BA in English and Literature in 1987 and a degree in Computer Science from Boston University in 1992. He was most recently a Principal Systems Engineer at Natixis Global Asset Management in Boston from 1998–2018.
Rob had an engaging and gregarious personality and could strike up a conversation and make friends with any person he met. He was adventuresome and liked to travel to any place near the ocean. He spent most summers of his early life in East Dennis, on Cape Cod and continued to vacation with his family in Hyannis as an adult. In the early 1990’s he helped run Bugs, Busses and Things, a small business that transformed Volkswagen Bugs into functioning vacation vehicles.
Rob was very generous and giving to his family and friends, always ready to cook up a pot of lobster and clams, make seafood chowder or bake a quahog pie for any occasion. A long-time shell-fisherman, he enjoyed clamming and quahogging in Barnstable Harbor. He was an avid gardener and loved working on his vintage Volkswagen Bug and Bus.
Robert cared deeply for the Fernandes family and especially adored Balbina’s young nieces and nephews who were often guests in Weymouth and on the Cape. He leaves an aunt and uncle, Randi Grohe Lathrop and Bob Lathrop and cousin Keith Lathrop of Boston MA an aunt, Donna Grohe of Mashpee MA, an uncle the late Arthur T Grohe Jr, cousins Tripp Grohe of Hyannis, MA, Leah Grohe Rogers of Mashpee, MA and Kathryn Q. Keyworth of Gardner, MA and many cousins.
Rob will be deeply missed by all of his friends and family. A private service will be held at Holy Cross Cathedral in the South End of Boston, MA on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 1pm. No flowers please, Donations in his name can be made to the Keewaydin Foundation, 500 Rustic Lane, Salisbury, Vermont 05769.
