Snowber, Robert A. of Hingham passed away on March 10, 2008 at the Norwell Knoll Nursing Home, following a long illness after a stroke in 2006. Beloved husband and best friend of 57 years to Joan (Bosch) Snowber. Loving father of Ellen “Lynn” Snowber-Marini of Rock Hill, SC, Christopher R. Snowber of Washington, D.C., Mary Anne Snowber of Berkeley, CA, and Timothy M. Snowber of Camarillo, CA. Brother of Mary Gruning of Somers, NY, John Snowber of Maspeth, NY, Eleanor Sluys of Sebastian, FL, and the late Eilleen Hatton & Frank Snowber. Loving grandfather of Ryan Snowber-Marini, Iya Snowber, Michael Snowber-Woakes, Piper Snowber, Kathryn Snowber-Marini, Jesse Snowber-Woakes, and Ruby Snowber. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM, Friday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 2:15 PM. Bob was a husband, father and grandfather, and active member of church and community groups including St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, South Shore Habitat for Humanity, Hingham Hospice, and for 15 years a weekly storyteller for Avis Goldstein’s kindergarden at South Elementary School. He retired from Parsons Brinkerhoff in 1991 after a 39-year career in transit planning that took him all over the world. He earned a Bachelor in Civil Engineering from RPI, and served in the Navy during World War II. He loved sailing and travel, reading, music and singing, and the loving company of family and friends. Throughout his life Bob committed himself to organizations focused on building and enriching the communities in which he lived.
