Rita T. Mcsweeney

Rita T. (McCarthy) McSweeney, of Weymouth, died February 11, 2018. 

Born May 13, 1925, she was the last surviving child of Frank and Mary McCarthy of Dorchester. Rita married the Love of Her Life, Mac, on April 20, 1952 and lived life to the fullest until Mac’s death in 2005. Rita was happiest surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, for they were the foundation of all that was important to her. She will be forever in the hearts and souls of all those who loved her. 

Beloved wife of the late Edward “Mac” McSweeney. The best mother ever of Judy Bond of Weymouth, Karen Hunter and her husband Kevin of Scituate, Kathy McSweeney of North Woodstock, NH, Michael McSweeney and his wife Robin of Maineville, OH, MaryAnn Howland and her husband Bobby of Kingston and the late Richard McSweeney. Most Loved and Cherished Nana of 7 grandchildren and Great Nana of 6 great-grandchildren. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family that she loved dearly. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).

Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM Friday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM.

Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rita may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
