Rita S. Dewey

Rita (Garofalo) Dewey, 95, a lifelong resident of Weymouth, passed away surrounded by her loving family on March 24, 2024. 

Daughter of the late Olindo & Hattie Garofalo, predeceased in death by her siblings, Phyllis, Marie, Patty, Carl, Delores, Barbara and Joan. Also her daughter, Patricia Robinson. 

Survived by her daughters, Sandra Beck of North Attleboro, Barbara and her husband John Milley of Colorado, Pamela and her husband Paul Papsadore of North Attleboro, Alana and her husband Richard King of Carver. Rita was the loving Nana to 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and friends. Especially her niece Donna Driscoll and her husband George of Marshfield who always had a special place in her heart. 

She enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and N.E. Patriots. Other favorite activities included casino trips, Monday night card group and Thursday Bingo at the Whipple Center that she never missed.

Rita’s most treasured times were spent on holidays and celebrations with her family.

Rita worked as a waitress for many years and for Stop & Shop Companies. After retirement, she became a Foster Grandparent for the Weymouth Schools. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Tuesday, April 2nd from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Wednesday, April 3rd prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Mass Eye and Ear.
