Rita M. Bleakney

Rita M (Murphy) Bleakney passed away July 17, 2018. 

Rita is a retired teacher and counselor in the Weymouth Jr. High School system for 40 years.  A lifelong resident of Weymouth, she was a graduate of Weymouth High School. She received her bachelor’s degree at Bridgewater State Teachers College and earned her Master’s Degree at Boston College. She also did Graduate work at Boston University. She was a director in the Weymouth High School Alumni Association, a member of the Norfolk Chapter of the Retired Educators Association of Mass. (R.E.A.M.), a member of The Retired State, County, and Municipal Employees Association, and a member of the Weymouth Catholic Club. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Parish and was a former teacher of Confraternity of Christian Doctrine classes at both St. Jerome’s Church and Immaculate Conception. 

Wife of the late Thomas L. Bleakney. Survived by her step-children, Thomas M., Arthur F., both of Weymouth, Robert L of Bedford, Helen E. Webber of Ohio, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was also the daughter of Julia and Charles Murphy.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 3-6 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 10:30 AM. Burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth.
