Rita Lane

Rita Lane (Gaughen) of Norwell, formerly of Weymouth, age 70, died June 28, 2014 peacefully with her family by her side.

Rita will be forever remembered as a devoted, loving, caring mother, grandmother, daughter, sibling, wife, and friend to all who came across her doorstep. Rita tirelessly, and without exception, put the health, comfort, and well-being of others ahead of all else. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception School in Weymouth, Archbishop Williams High School, Class of 1961, and attended Mt. St. Mary’s and Stonehill College.

She was the daughter of the late Robert H. and Catherine (Shea) Gaughen. Beloved wife of 50 years to George E. Lane, Jr. Loving mother of George E. Lane, III & wife Elaine of Bridgewater, Robert A. Lane & wife Martha of Kingston, Maura E. Lane Warner & husband Daniel of Grafton, Daniel P. Lane & wife Rebekah of Kingston, and Michael J. Lane & fiancee Erica of Boston. Devoted grandmother of Thomas, Molly, Andrew, Daniel and Ian. Loving sister of Catherine Titus of Rockville, MD, Elizabeth Volpone of West Grove, PA, Eleanor Hernando of Madrid, Spain, Robert H. Gaughen, Jr. of Hingham, and Kevin W. Gaughen, Sr. of Hull. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Helen’s Church, Norwell at 9 AM. Burial in Washington Street Cemetery, Norwell.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rita may be made to a charity of your choice.
