Rita Grace Almeida (Pinto) of East Weymouth and formally of the West End, passed away February 5, 2023. She was 91 years old.
She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Catherine Pinto (Cappello). Wife of the late James J. Almeida. Beloved mother of James J. Almeida Jr. and his wife Rosemary of Fall River, Linda Zella Brunelle and her husband Bruce Brunelle of Plymouth, Deborah Ann Pellon and her husband Christian of Plymouth and Eileen Almeida of East Weymouth. Mother in-law of the late Stephen T. Zella. Cherished sister of Eileen Alberino of Medford, Ronnie Pinto and his wife Marilyn of Arlington and the late Anthony and Joseph Pinto. Adoring grandmother “Nana” to Stephen, Jeffrey, Michael, Nicholas, Julie, Laura and the late James Christopher Almeida. Loving great-grandmother “Nonnie” to Stephen, Olivia, Ava, Jacob, Samantha, Charlotte, Jordan, Adam and Desmond.
Born in Brooklyn New York and was raised and educated in the West End. She met James and the two were married on March 5th 1950 in Seabrook New Hampshire and then raised four children together. She worked several retail clerk jobs and spent many years working at The Arbor Inn in North Weymouth as the desk clerk. She loved shopping, and chatting on the phone. She was an excellent cook and her lasagna, meatballs, eggplant, and the other authentic Italian dishes she prepared will be greatly missed. She was a supporter of many charities and loved animals especially her late cat Gwen. Her greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 4-8 PM in the Funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:30AM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main St. (Rt. 18 opp. South Shore Hospital) , Weymouth. Burial to follow in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rita may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
