Rita F. O’Connor

Rita (Crowley) O’Connor, 96, of Quincy passed away Friday, January 31st at the Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham.

She was born in Boston’s South End; she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary (Murphy) Crowley.  Mrs. O’Connor was raised in Boston and Hough’s Neck, Quincy and was a graduate of Cathedral High School. During WWII she worked as a welder at General Dynamics Ship Yard. She also worked at Jordan Marsh Warehouse in Squantum and at the age of 89 retired from Filene’s/Macy’s.  There was no obstacle or challenge too big for her to overcome. Rita was a devoted wife and mother.  She was loving, kind, generous and always loved to laugh. Her heart was filled with joy and gratitude.  She will be deeply missed by all. 

Mrs. O’Connor was predeceased by her beloved husband, Paul F. O’Connor and her siblings, Joseph and Ann Crowley, Jeannette White, Margaret Sullivan and Eileen Melanson.  She is survived by her children, Sandra J. Tedeschi and her husband Paul of Norwell, Rita M. Savage of Quincy, Paul F. O’Connor, Jr., Ret. QPD and his wife Cathy of Florida, Thomas C. O’Connor Ret. QFD and his wife Marlene of Kingston and Lawrence T. O’Connor of Quincy. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sharon, Coleen, Tom, Kerri, April, Sarah, Ryan, Heather and 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  The family wishes to thank all who were so kind to Rita including her Sunrise Cohasset family and friends at Queen Anne’s, Hingham. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy.  Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
