Scanlan, Rita D. (Tobin) of Weymouth, formerly of Brighton died April 2, 2006. Wife of the late Richard A. Scanlan. Beloved mother of Rita “Dolly” Strout of Waltham, Richard A. Scanlan and his wife Ann of Baltimore, MD, Gerard P. Scanlan of Holiday, FL, Paul F. Scanlan and his companion Anne Kelliher of Belmont, Maryanne and her husband Robert Breen of Holbrook, Joan M. Scanlan of Holbrook, James P. Scanlan and his wife Anne of Walpole. Cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass in St. Columbkille Church, 321 Market Street, Brighton on Thursday at 9:00 AM. Visiting hours in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, WOLLASTON on Wednesday 4 – 8 PM. Burial in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. Donations in memory of Mrs. Scanlan may be made to Make A Wish Foundation of Massachusetts, One Bulfinch Place, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02114. Rita worked for Sandeve Sales for over 10 years. Prior to working there, she was employeed at Necco Candy in Cambridge as a candy wrapper and at Aerospace Corp. as a wire wrapper (PC Boards). Rita was a member of the Women’s Auxillary Knights of Columbus in Brighton and was a member of “Rosie the Riveter” which is a name referred to women whose work in factories was essential during the World War II. Rita enjoyed ceramics also.
