Rita C. Mcdonough

McDonough, Rita C. (Julian) of Quincy passed away on September 25, 2009. Beloved wife of the late John J. McDonough. Loving mother of Robert J. McDonough of Beacon Hill, Catherine M. Haker of Melrose, Rita T. Brace of Plymouth, Janet M. Burgart of Hull, Maureen F. McDonough of North Quincy and Kevin M. McDonough of Ireland. Loving sister of Lorraine C. Mullen of Milton and the late Mary E. Julian. Cherished grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Rita lived in Dorchester for many years before moving to Quincy 36 years ago. She worked for the Unites States Postal Service in Boston for 13 years until retiring in 1981. She was a volunteer for both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America. Rita was also an avid Red Sox Fan. After years of struggling, Rita was incredibly proud of her 23 years of sobriety. This accomplishment abled her to mend relationships with loved ones and be surrounded by her family during the later years of her life. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Wednesday 4 PM – 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Thursday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
