McKenzie, Rita A. (Pelletier) of Hingham, died unexpectedly in Maine while attending a family reunion, on August 11, 2018.

Rita will be remembered as a devoted mother, a compassionate nurse and a devout Catholic. Her family and faith were the foundation of all that was truly important to her. She will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have had her in their lives.

Rita was the beloved wife of the late John R. McKenzie and the late Joseph L. Lanata. Loving mother of Karen (Jack) O’Neil of Scituate, Teresa (Ray) Seitz of Cincinnati, Edward McKenzie (Karen Vey) and John (Lisa) McKenzie all of Hingham. Stepmother of John (Nancy) Lanata of FL,  David (Marie) Lanata of Arlington, Anne Marie (Bruce) Quillin of CA, Marilyn (Ken) Zurwaski of Middleboro, the late Carole (Mark) Bisgrove of Newburyport, and the late Fred and Richard Lanata. Sister of Patrice Pelletier, Gabriel Pelletier, and Micheline Gauvin of Canada, Rose Marie Cypher of FL,  and the late Yvon Pelletier, Gaetane Fyfe, and Raymonde Hachey. Rita is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Friday, August 17th from 8:30-10:30 am in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., Hingham immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at Resurrection Church, Hingham at 11 am. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
