McLaughlin, Richard T. of Scottsdale, AZ, died on September 06, 2010. He was 70. Beloved husband of Darlene P. McLaughlin of Scottsdale, AZ. Cherished son of the late Robert and Mary McLaughlin, owner of the Wee Folks Nursery School in South Boston. Devoted father of Peter McLaughlin and his wife Mary of NY and Cheri Blackford and her husband Tim of Puerto Rico. Loving brother of Janet Riley and her late husband Paul of Braintree, Philip McLaughlin and his wife Donna of Quincy and the late Rosemary Gallagher and Robert McLaughlin, Jr. Loving Grandpa to Charlie, Maddie and Henry. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Richard, known by his friends and family as “Dick” or “Mac” grew up in Quincy, graduating from Archbishop Williams High School, where he excelled athletically. Dick was an avid sports fan and athlete, excelling in baseball, tennis and golf. His love for baseball started at 4 years old and only grew throughout the years as he played for various little leagues, high school and then Curry College as a left handed pitcher. Mac was a member of the Los Angeles Dodger’s for many years in various capacities. He was drafted as an outfielder in 1959, where he played for 13 years. He then went on to be a Scout for 5 years, a Minor League Manager for 5 years, a third base coach for the Dodger’s AAA affiliate for 5 years and then and organizational instructor for the last 15 years. After retiring from the L.A. Dodger’s in 1998, he worked as an organizational instructor for the Texas Rangers for 3 years. Dick McLaughlin was the only Major League Baseball Bunting Instructor of his time. He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Friday 4 – 8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15AM on Saturday, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Richard may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
