Richard R. Towle

Towle, Richard R. of Quincy, formerly of Norwell and Hingham died December 23, 2007. Devoted husband of the late Dorothy L. (Kannaly) Towle. Beloved father of Richard R. Towle, Jr. of Marlborough, Douglas C. Towle of Chicago, IL, Detra R. Towle of Braintree, Doretha L. Gurry of Marshfield, Deborah C. DesChamps of CT, Rita C. Mohr of Braintree, Dayle Nash of Marshfield, Thomas H. Towle of FL, and Steven J. Towle of Hingham. Loving brother of Mary Kane of ME and the late Philip Towle. Cherished grandfather of 28 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. Richard proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 – 1945 during WWII. He served as Lieutenant aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. WASP CV-18 in the Pacific which received nine battle stars. Lieutenant Towle received the Purple Heart and a Captain’s Commendation. Richard obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He was a Professor at Boston University for over 42 years and a Certified Public Accountant for Panell, Kerr, & Foster in Boston for over 40 years. Richard was a member of the American Institute of CPA’s and the Mass Society of CPA’s. Most of all, Richard loved his family and cherished time spent with them, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., HINGHAM, Thursday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Saint Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Wednesday 5 – 8 PM. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Richard R. Towle may be made to Catholic Charities, 75 Kneeland Street, 8th Floor Boston, MA 02111.
