Barry, Richard P. of Quincy, died December 12, 2016.
 
Richard Barry was surrounded by family and his best friend when he passed away after a long illness where he never gave up the fight.
 
He adored his family, his two daughters Liz and Caroline and especially his grandchildren. He grew up in Quincy where he developed his love for boating and the ocean. Throughout his life, he enjoyed cooking, traveling and golfing. Rich also really loved his work as a commercial real estate attorney. He graduated from Archbishop Williams High School, Saint Anselm’s College and Suffolk Law School. He was very active and a leader in the city of Quincy serving as past president of Rotary Club and was a current Rotarian, on the Quincy City Hospital Board of Directors, and a member of the South Shore and Quincy Chamber of Commerce. He was active in the Alumni Association for Archbishop Williams and Saint Anselm’s College. He was also a crew member of Winter Sailing on the Charles. Rich was a loyal and very generous man who loved and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was tough, an initiator, compassionate and had a great sense of humor. Rich will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 
 
Son of the late John and Virginia Barry. Devoted father of Elizabeth Shatas and her husband Timothy of Walpole and Caroline Barry of Braintree. Beloved brother of Virginia Barry Maness of Quincy, Jay Barry and his wife Judy of Pembroke, Christine LaPlume of Rockland, Anne Barry Jolles and her husband Jon of Plymouth, and Mark Barry and his wife Cheryl of Florida. Adored “Papa” of Jackson and Emily Shatas. Best friend of Cindy del Moral. Rich was also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nephews, and dear friends.  
 
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rich may be made to Salvation Army, 6 Baxter St., Quincy, MA 02169.
