Richard M. Shea

Richard was born in Boston on January 30, 1935  to Kathleen May Cassidy and John F. (Frank) Shea.  He was predeceased by his beloved Aunt Katie, his sisters, Kathleen Reagan and her husband Eugene, Frances D. Adams and her husband Sam, and Claire J. Bach, and her husband Leon. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joan Silipigno Shea, his niece Susan L. Bach of Milton, his step-niece Carole Brigandi of Duxbury and step-nephew William Bach of Berlin, Germany.

Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines and became a widely traveled executive in the apparel industry. He was an avid outdoorsman, marksman and an athlete in his youth. Most of all, Richard was a family man who enjoyed and cherished his wife and his immediate and extended family, including his sisters-in-laws,  brother in-laws, nieces, nephews, and grandnieces, grandnephews. His Irish charm and wit were his hallmark and legacy.

He passed away peacefully on December 4, 2021 surrounded by his Wife Joan and Niece Susan.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 11 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church in South Weymouth. Burial will be private.

In celebration of Richard’s legacy as a Marine, and in lieu of flowers,  please consider donating to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation where 96% of your donation goes for toys and other gifts for less fortunate children. 

Due to Covid 19 concerns and out of respect for the health of attendees of the Funeral Mass, the family regrets that no reception will take place at this time.
