Richard J. Shea

Shea, Richard J. “Fitzy” of Quincy, passed away on May 14, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family, he was 64. The beloved husband of 38 years to Mary Ellen (McIsaac) Shea of Quincy. Cherished father of Amy Shea and her fiancé Josh Wingate both of Santa Monica, CA and Colin Shea and his fiancé Marybeth Feeney both of Weymouth. Son in law of Ellen McIsaac of Bar Harbor, ME. Brother in law of MJ McIsaac of Bar Harbor, ME and Hugh McIsaac of Trenton, ME. Cousin of John and Linda Casagrande of Sutton and Janice Klein of Concord. Fitzy is also survived by many nieces, cousins and dear friends. A longtime Quincy resident, he was very active in Quincy Youth Soccer serving on the board and as coach and mentor. Smoking a pipe, a cup of tea, reading and music were an important part of his life, especially Irish music. Despite his spinal cord injury, Fitzy never complained, always uplifted those around him, maintained a phenomenal sense of humor and warmth and was well known for his daily joke e-mails he would send to family and friends to brighten their day. The focus of his life was truly his family. Because of his unconditional love, he will be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father and a cherished friend who brought laughter, grace and courage to the lives he touched, so characteristically of the way he lived his life. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Cremation will follow.
