Richard J. Scanlon

Scanlon, Richard J. of Quincy, passed away June 7, 2012. Beloved son of Jenny (Mattson) Scanlon of Quincy and the late Thomas J. Scanlon. Loving brother of Edward Scanlon and his wife, Maureen Meskimen, of Newton, and the late Thomas J. Scanlon, Jr and Mary E. Maher. Uncle of Elizabeth Maher Doyle and her husband, James, of Hanover, and Peter J. Maher of Somerville. Great Uncle of Lauren, Joseph, Katie, and Julia Doyle. Mr. Scanlon lived in Quincy for many years. Until his retirement, he was a teacher at Quincy High School for 36 years. Richard was also a Vietnam Veteran serving with the United States Army as well as an avid tennis player and poet. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Wednesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial will be in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
