Richard J. Manning of Rockland and Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Roslindale and Norwell, died January 6, 2017 at the age of 89.
Dick was the loving husband of Lucille M. (Noe) Manning and of the late Jeanne Manning. Loving father of Michael Manning and wife Dorothy of Weymouth; Daniel Manning and wife Marie of Braintree; Carol McCarthy and husband Kevin, Donna Eich and husband Bob, all of Hanson; and David Manning and wife Elise of Kingston. Loving stepfather of Sandra Milne and husband Steven, Susan Gallinari and husband George, all of Las Vegas, NV; and Paul Short and wife Wendy of Newnan, GA. Brother of the late William Manning and Ann McGowen, also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dick served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later worked as an engineer for the phone company for many years. As a 45 year member of the Weymouth Elks he formed lifelong friendships. Dick enjoyed golf, shuffleboard, bowling, and dancing, but most of all treasured his family.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM at the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 8 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass at Holy Family Church, Rockland at 9AM. Burial at Milton Cemetery, followed by a lunch and remembrance at the Elks in Weymouth. Donations in memory of Dick may be made to Hospice of the South Shore, 30 Reservoir Park Dr., Rockland, MA 02370.
