Richard J. Hart, OFD, longtime resident of Weymouth, recently of Plymouth, died March 21, 2016 at the age of 74.

Richard will be remembered for his devotion to his family, dedication to teaching, and his dry wit and deadpan humor. He was a graduate of Gate of Heaven High School, Boston Teacher’s College and Fisk University of Tennessee. He worked as a physics teacher at Stoughton High School and North Quincy High School.

Survived by his beloved wife and best friend Madonna (Wells) Hart. He was the proud and loving father of Emily Gail Hart of Melrose and Richard J. Hart (Rich/R.J.) and his wife Kaysea of Hingham. He cherished his granddaughter Dylan and his grandson Cormac, also of Hingham. He is also survived by his brother John Hart of Medford.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Thursday 6-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Family and friends will meet directly at St. Jerome’s Church, 632 Bridge Street in Weymouth for the Funeral Mass on Friday at 10:30 AM. The location of the reception following, to which all are invited, will be announced at the conclusion of Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Richard may be made to Smile Train, PO Box 96231, Washington, D.C. 20090-6231 or DonorsChoose.org. Donors Choose is a charity that enables public school teachers from across the country to request much needed materials and experiences for their students.
