Richard H. Silverman, 86, of Hingham, MA, formerly of Boston and Weston, passed away on February 21, 2016 at South Shore Hospital after a brief illness. 

He was the son of the late William and Edith Silverman of Brookline, MA, and predeceased by his brother Don Silverman of Los Angeles, CA. He is survived by his sons Mark (Susan Fields) and Peter (Suzanne Sullivan), and daughter Amy McFarland (Tom), as well as grandchildren Sarah, Jason, Liza, Ricky, and Kyra, great-granddaughter Kyla, and dear companion Carole Rako. 

He graduated from MIT in 1952 and ran his own engineering consulting business. He was the President of the BAYS League in the 1970s, and coached soccer at Framingham North High School and Framingham State College. He was an active member of the Back Bay Residents’ Association and the Friends of the Boston Harbor Islands. He was a Lifetime Master in bridge and played in the National Tournament. He also was an avid sailor, pianist and player of table tennis.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Linden Ponds Student Scholarship Fund, care of the Philanthropy Office, Linden Ponds, 203 Linden Ponds Way, Hingham MA 02043. 

A celebration of his life will be held at Linden Ponds on Saturday, March 12 from 1-4 pm.
