Richard F. Mahoney, Sr.

Mahoney, Richard F. Sr.  “Dick”  of Quincy passed away on August 23, 2013 at Massachusetts General Hospital, he was 76. Born in Boston, Dick was raised in Arlington. He graduated from Arlington High School and began working for Boston Edison, where he worked for more than 40 years. Both Dick and his late wife Kitty volunteered for many years at  the Meals on Wheels program. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed gardening. He loved taking trips to the casino’s and truly enjoyed playing cards. Dick will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, a cherished brother and a beloved grandfather and a favorite uncle. He had a strong work ethic and devoted his life to his family. They were the foundation of all that was truly important to him. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. 

Devoted husband of the late Katherine “Kitty” ( Connolly) Mahoney. Loving father of Barbara A. Vos and her husband Daniel of Anchorage, AK, Catherine M. Lynch and her husband Martin of Quincy, Richard F. Mahoney, Jr. and his wife Kerry of Weymouth and Sheila Guarnotta and her husband James of Tyngsboro. Cherished brother of Arlene Mahoney of Whitman, Joseph Mahoney and his wife Catherine of Methuen, Virginia Sovie and her husband William of Arlington and Karen Mahoney of Quincy. Loving Papa to Shaun, Katelyn and Sarah Lynch, Michael, Jake and Dylan Mahoney, James Guarnotta and Brogan Vos. Great Grandfather of Ryan Joseph Lynch. Dick was the favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy on Tuesday 4-8pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:15 am followed by the Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Quincy Wednesday at 10am.

Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in memory of Dick may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P. O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675.
