Richard A. “Dick” Igo Sr., a 40 year resident of Hingham, passed away Monday evening, January 28, 2019 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, he was 85.
Born and raised in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Peter and Emma (Desrosier) Igo. Richard earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University, and also played hockey, football, and basketball for the school teams. He later moved to Buffalo New York, where he and his family resided for nearly 20 years. Dick worked for many years until retirement as a Sales Representative, specializing in sporting goods for the C.C.M. and Bauer Companies. He also was a hockey and basketball coach for youth leagues in Buffalo. The family relocated to Hingham in 1978. He was life long summer resident of Green Harbor where enjoyed entertaining family and friends on the beach.
Dick was the beloved husband of the late Mary Lou (Strange) Igo, devoted father of Timothy Igo and his wife Lauren of Buffalo NY, Jon Igo of Hingham, Richard Igo Jr. and his wife Julie of South Weymouth, and the late Beth Ellen Igo, loving grandfather of Kelsey, Courtney, Matthew Peter, Rachel, and Peter, proud great-grandfather of Colt, and brother of the late Henry Igo.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday from 10-12 only, in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM, followed by funeral service at 12 noon in the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Dick’s memory may be made to American Parkinson Disease Assoc., 72 East Concord St. – C3, Boston, MA 02118.
