Curran, Richard “Dick”, retired Sergeant Quincy Police Department died after a short illness on January 26, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones. Dick is survived by his loving companion of many years Mary Jo Brogna of Quincy. He was the beloved father of Kelly Curran of Chesapeake Bay, VA and Kerri and her husband Jesse Bordeau of Quincy and Mary Jo’s daughters Kristen Brogna-Higgins and her husband Brian Higgins of Wakefield and Jaclyn Brogna of Quincy. He was cherished “Papa Dick” to Gianna Higgins of Wakefield. He also leaves his eleven siblings: Francis “Frank” Curran of Rockland, Donald “Bobby” Curran and William Curran (retired Quincy Police Lieutenant), both of Abington, Mary Eldeb of Braintree, Paul Curran and Christine Brady, both of Weymouth, Kenneth Curran of Abington, Rita Ellis of Quincy, John “Dan” Curran and Joseph Curran, both of Weymouth and Donna O’Sullivan of Abington. Dick is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Dick had a distinguished career with Quincy Police from 1968-2007. Dick was an avid golfer. He wintered in Naples, FL at Glen Eagle Golf and Country Club. He was a member of the Wemouth Elks summer golf league. Dick and Mary Jo traveled extensively, and enjoyed their many trips with their families and friends. Dick was a great friend to many over the years. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:15AM on Saturday, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Quincy at 11 AM. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
