Fennelly, Richard Bruce, “Dick”  Ret. QFD of Quincy, died January 21, 2015.

Richard Bruce was born in Boston and was a graduate of Quincy Trade School Class of 1965 in cabinet making. He joined the US Coast Guard in 1966 where he was awarded the Coast Guard Commendation Medal for rescuing the crew of the vessel Sea King in high seas. Richard was a dedicated firefighter for the QFD for engine 2 and engine 7 for 32 years before retiring in 2002.  He was a gourmet cook at the fire house and the highlight of his career was having delivered a baby while on his shift.  He was both  a Quincy Youth Hockey and Soccer coach. He enjoyed gardening, cabinet making, fishing, traveling, cruises, cooking  and made the best banana bread ever!  Most of all Richard Bruce loved his family who were the cornerstone of his life.  He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.

Beloved husband of Beverly C. Fennelly “Zinkus” of Quincy. Loving father of Sean C. Fennelly of Quincy.  Devoted son of Norma R. Fennelly of Port Orange, Florida and the late Canice J. Fennelly, Ret. BFD.  Brother of Donald Fennelly and his wife Ginny of Edgwater, Florida.  Brother in law of John P. Zinkus Jr. and his wife Marie of Milton.  Uncle of Glen Zinkus and his wife Tuen of Eugene Oregon, Lee Ann Lee and her husband Kenneth of Methuen, Mark Zinkus of Hingham, Darlene Fennelly of Weymouth and Wendy Fennelly Begley of Lyons Colorado.  Richard is also survived by many great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A prayer service will be held on Monday at 7:30 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy.  Interment will be at Massachussets National Cemetery, Bourne, MA,  at a later date. Donations in memory of Richard Bruce may be made to Quincy Fire Department Relief Association, 40 Quincy Avenue, Quincy, MA  02169.
