Richard A. Schier

Schier, Richard A., a resident of the Inn at Wingate of Kingston, formerly of Weymouth, passed away, March 19, 2015. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy L. (Dumas) Schier.  Loving father of Thomas Schier and his wife Rosemary of Kingston.  Cherished grandfather of Brian and Lauren.  Dear brother of the late John, Eric and Margaret. Loving uncle of Karl Schier and Karen Fothergill. 

Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean Confilct.  He worked as an accountant for many years at Domino Sugar.  He was an avid golfer who loved playing golf at Ridder Golf Course. In his later years, Richard worked at MJ Malloy, Ridder Golf Course, Pembroke Golf Course and Blackrock Country Club. He enjoyed music, dancing, collecting stamps and coins and woodworking.

A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Albert the Great Church, Weymouth Monday, April 6, 2015 at 9:30 AM. A burial will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery at 12:30PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s memory to either the Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, #326, Plymouth, MA 02360 or Alzheimer’s Association, 473 South Street, West #13, Raynham, MA 02767.
