Richard A. Carey, Jr.

Richard A. Carey, Jr. age 65, a resident a of Lakewood Ranch, FL, passed away suddenly on Jan 3, 2024. He was the devoted husband to Diane (Cara Donna) Carey, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage. 

Rick was born in Medford, MA and was the son of Richard Carey and Barbara (Sweeney) Carey.

Rick was a graduate of Medford High School and Northeastern University, where he graduated with a criminal justice degree. After a brief career as a police officer and then a security professional at Fidelity Investments, Rick started his own security /shredding business, Data Safe Services. A born entrepreneur, he grew and ran that business successfully and with great pride.

Rick loved adventure and travel, and especially loved boating and swimming. He realized his lifelong dream of living in Florida, where he enjoyed the warmth and freedom to swim daily and walk about barefoot, often accompanied by his faithful dog Otto.

In addition to his loving wife, Rick is survived by his two beloved sons, Mark and Eric, as well as his daughter-in-law, 

Erin (Cain) and his two cherished grandchildren, Jack and Eleanor and also many extended family members. 

Family and friends are cordially invited to remember Rick’s life by gathering for visiting hours at Pyne Keohane Funeral, 21 Emerald St. Hingham on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 4-7pm .  A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 9:30am.  Private Burial in High Street Cemetery.
