Flaherty, Sr. Brother of Brendan Flaherty of Dorchester, Patricia Flaherty-Foley of Medway and Robert N. Flaherty of Dorchester. Also survived by 4 nieces and 2 nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass in Saint Ann’s Church, 757 Hancock St., Wollaston Thursday at 11 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 3-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON. Rev. Flaherty will lie in state in St. Ann’s Church on Wednesday 3-7 PM with a Vigil Service at 7 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester. Rev. Daniel Flaherty, Jr. was ordained at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross on May 20, 1970 by Bishop Jeremiah Minehan. His first assignment was a Parochial Vicar at St. John the Baptist Parish, Peabody, MA. He also was a Parochial Vicar at Blessed Sacrament Parish, Cambridge, MA. For over fifteen years he served as hospital chaplain at the Symmes Hospital, Arlington, MA. During this time in Arlington, he was active at St. Camillus Parish and was also chaplain to the Medical Missionary of Mary Sisters. He was then appointed Pastor of St. Charles Borremeo Parish, Waltham, MA. After completing his term as pastor in Waltham, he was appointed Pastor of St. James Parish, Salem, MA.In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rev. Flaherty may be made to Saint Ann’s Church, 757 Hancock St., Wollaston, MA 02170.
