Regina Gonczarek

Gonczarek, Regina (Tatara) Of Hingham passed away August 23, 2014 at the age 87 after a difficult battle with cancer.  

She was born in Poland in 1927 but has been a resident of Hingham for over 35 years. She will be remembered for her extraordinary resilience and courage having survived the extreme harshness of being a forced laborer in WWII Germany.  Then making her way to America from France together with her young family in 1958.  Once settled in the United States, she quickly became a proud citizen and worked tirelessly for over 20 years to help support her family before retiring.

She was utterly devoted to her family, admired for her generosity of spirit, kindness, and her delightful sense of humor.  Much to the appreciation of family and friends she was also a talented self taught chef who also loved classical music.   She instilled a strong sense of duty and responsibility in both of her children and grandchildren, showing them all by example how to live an honest and dignified life.

She is survived by her son George Gonczarek of Hingham, her daughter Donna Sultan and her husband Dr. Abdul Aziz Sultan of Kuwait, her grandchildren Gregory Karpinski and wife Donna Magnusson of Singapore and Alyssa Sultan and her husband Simon Francis of Kuwait. Mrs. Gonczarek is predeceased by her husband Walter Gonczarek and two brothers. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday 27th August from 4 PM to 7 PM at the PYNE Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), Hingham.  A Celebration of Life service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday morning at 9:15 PM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, 147 North Street, Hingham at 10 AM.  Burial in Hingham Cemetery.
