Doherty, Raymond P. a lifelong resident of North Quincy, passed away March 14, 2011 after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of 46 years to the late Jean M. (Argus) Doherty. Loving father of Jean Powers and her husband George of Bridgewater, Debra Doherty of N. Quincy, Linda Doherty of N. Quincy and David Doherty and his wife Nuala of Canton. Cherished grandfather of Meghan and Matthew Powers, both of Bridgewater. Brother of the late John, David, Thomas and Robert Doherty. Raymond is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Raymond was born and raised in Quincy. He was a graduate of North Quincy High School, class of 1950 and attended Brandeis University. For 45 years, Raymond worked for Kemper Insurance Company, retiring in 1997. In 1989 he was inducted into the North Quincy Football Hall of Fame. A devoted Boston sports fan, he enjoyed following the Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots. Spending summers at White Island Pond and vacationing with family were two of Ray’s greatest enjoyments. Most of all, Ray loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 10 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Donations in memory of Raymond may be made to South Shore VNA, 100 Baystate Dr. Braintree, MA 02184.
